NEW Original Tree of Grackle
Completed in 2023. Tree of Grackle, 48”x60”, pencil and oil on wood panel
Panel is maple cradle frame built by me. The artwork and all surfaces has a UV protectant varnish coat.
Hangs from a wire or french cleat.
Tree of Grackle started over 5 years ago with just two grackles painted on the panel. I left it untouched many years until recently when I got the nerve to tackle the many, many hours of drawing leaves. These are some of the first poses of grackles I ever painted and I decidedly put them in a Hackberry tree. Hackberry trees are notoriously problematic for their fast growth and short life span often resulting in sudden trunk splits and uprooting. My reference photo for the branches and leaves came from a fallen Hackberry tree in my yard. After three of these trees fell in my yard landing on my roof and taking out power lines (twice) , I had them all cut down. Don’t worry, there are still other trees for the grackles to roost in my yard.
All sales on original work is final. Domestic shipping is included in price.
